I’ve done trackdays in my youth and they were great. However I’m looking for something different now.

Finances don’t allow for a run to Germany. Does anyone know of any English (probably ex WW2 airfield) locations for a low cost top speed run?

South West if possible.

Just realised you wanted a top speed run and not an airfield trackday, so removed original link.

I rented Brintingthorpe for myself (alone), for a couple of hours in my 911 Turbo S. They have a 2 mile runway, so if you take the bottom curve at decent speed you can Vmax.

No idea if they still do that but maybe worth a call.

ETA There is one other place in the UK where it's easy to Vmax, but if I told you where, I'd have to kill you. wink

You'll find it very hard to do a proper v-max at anywhere other than brunty if you're driving something quick and even then as above you need to be brave on the bend entering the straight.

Do it at an organised event, fully marshalled and with a safety crew in attendance: http://www.vmax200.com/

Next event September 14th 2019.

Do you actually get to v-max though or are you limited by space.......its really v-max within the runway length isn't it......

Depends on your car. Yes it's limited by length, but VMax has seen speeds of 245mph reached ... yikes

The VMax website linked earlier has a results page to give you an idea of the speeds that are reached.

I know, i was just pointing out its not the ultimate vmax of the car necessarily, more the v-max in a confined area :-)

The OP's profile lists a 330d SE.

There's plenty of space to allow it to get to it's 155mph limiter (assuming it can). wink

Actually, after a closer look at the website and pricing - this is aimed at supercar owners (which is fair enough). There would probably be some upset if a lower marque bodykitted car tuned on an industrial estate in the midlands ended up in the top 20 hehe

Not at all. There are regularly RS3s, BMW M140s, Ford Focus RS, Mercedes A45s and others taking part.

All are welcome, and it matters not what you drive. smile

I did some research and a few people have said it's a fun event - have applied!
