Hi, I went around brands hatch in my 06 plate Cayman last year and naively didn't get track day insurance, I saw more than enough accidents to put me off going out till I got it sorted. Only problem is now the Cayman is gone and replaced with a 17 plate 4C spider and being 29 (track day set in August is only a week away from my 30th) and so far the quotes are in the 400/500 pound region for a single session and nearly 1000 for a years insurance and that includes 5 track days, I normally only do 1 a year.
Does anyone maybe of a similar age or issue have company they can recommend?

Cheers

I don’t believe age is an issue but I may be wrong on that.

I’m 27 and I’m not insuring cars of that sort of value it’s been between £80 and £110 insuring my Fabia for £10k. I’ve used Reis and Moris.

I was told that if I was 40 it would be a different story, think the cost of the motor main be the main issue but thanks for the names i will give them a call.

You sure you're not mistaking it for a <£40k Vs £40k+ car cover?

Bit of a diversion: are track day incidents generally collisions between two cars or a single car going off the track and hitting something all by itself? Or a mixture without a clear weighting either way?

Pretty much every incident I've seen has been a single car going off track. To be honest it is often the case that most people seem to know which car it will be long before the driver of said car knows, and give them a wide berth until it happens smile

That (the second bit) made me laugh a lot!

I can vouch for that on one trackday a guy was being a complete tt been black flagged and warn once. The marshal's had the black flag ready the second time, this time to send him home but he never made it he smashed into the pit wall just before the black flag.

As above, most of the time anyone with common sense can tell early on who is going to cause black flags & can give them a wide berth, but I have seen as many take themselves out as take someone else out.

It seems the only logical solution is to take the yearly policy and do 4 extra track days smile

I would love to do it more, but I sorta tag along with a group I got introduced to at a car show and don't fancy going on my own.

So the best quote I have had is with Morris for £250. I do think that is as good as its going to get.

I use need to insure for my focus RS for my yearly policy which includes 5 track days i believe, and pace ward for my fiesta ST where track days are an additional £80 per track day.

Used to use insuremytrackday but that was around £150 per day in the fiesta.

I can honestly say I've never seen two cars have a collision on track in all the days I've done, every accident I've seen has been a single car coming off track and hitting a wall, I include my own in that, I had a spin off on a wet track at Oulton and hit a tyre wall, such is life, I drive a cheap track car for a reason.

As a side note I have previously had track insurance through Greenlight Insurance which was about £120 for 5 sessions but that was on top of my annual policy with them, they don't offer track insurance alone

I’m with Reis. They cover my car for road and track, including 6 trackdays a year. And that’s heavily modified, like for like replacement and agreed value. I’m 33 and pay about £500 a year, friend is with them too, he is only 31 and pays similar for his M3
