How many hours on track?
Discussion
Hello,
I'd be interested to know the most number of hours of driving time you have had on track in any one 12 month period?
I'd expect even the most committed trackdayer would probably do no more than 40 hours - based on 12 trackdays and 3-4 hours per day on track in one year. But maybe I've miss calculated. By hours on track I mean from the moment you leave the pit lane to the moment you return. For most I'd expect that to be 20-30 mins at a time.
I'm fairly certain it would be near impossible to lap all day from the moment the pit lane open to when it closes, and most trackdayers I know do spend a bit of time in the pits chatting?
So what's your most number of hours on track in a year?
During a race season I reckon I get 7-10 hours on track. Can you top that?

Personally I probably do a lot more.
Myself and 2 others are doing the C1 24hr next weekend so 8hrs each, (not the first 24hr) then our regular championship 9 hrs plus dropping in and out of other races.....then ROR
This is on top of many many track days....not to mention charity days where we take passengers out. A recent charity day I must have done 5-6hrs
And on the list goes...

I did all the 750 Enduro races last year plus Birkett, Roadsports and a C1 24 hr so I'd guess at around 20 hours of quali/racing.
Trackdaying is easier to quantify on miles, I'd say 150m is a good day out so that's probably 2hrs of track time per TD?
Time on the passenger seat instructing would outstrip all that by a long way.......

well lets see... most trackdays i've ever done in a year is 12, and normally i aim to do 200 miles in a day. recently at spa my average speed while lapping was some 70ish mph, though thats a high speed circuit... call my average speed 60mph then to do 200 miles a day would require 3.33 hrs, *12 = 40 hrs on track.
gonna be tough to get to 100, thats either 2.5 trackdays every month, or doing 500 miles a day!

that's the challenge I'm interested in trying to achieve. I reckon min cost would be about £9k in entry fees, and realistically about the same in fuel, tyres, wear and tear ( on a `n/a hot hatch like a Clio 182)Gassing Station | Track Days | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
