I'm looking at doing a Spa Day with Bookatrack in July as a 50th Birthday present.

I've done hundreds of laps there in my S2000 so know where the lefts and rights are but this time i'm going to hire a track car (partly because the engine on the S2000 lunched itself last time and my new S2000 is a garage queen.

BaT charge £1,600 for the day for either a Ginetta G40 Club Car or a Caterham Roadsport.

Performance seems similar but the main benefit I can see of the Ginetta is that it has a roof, which may prove useful at Spa [cliché]at one end of the circuit[/cliché].

I'm going to be sharing the car with a friend, so being able to cope with fairly constant running is a factor.

Which would you choose and why?

Ginetta, based on the roof, heater and the caterham being a little bit twitchy st Spa (I'm biased I stacked one of Johnnys there)

on the other hand how does the excess compare?

Thanks Mark,

Costs/excesses are the same for both.

Boss Racing Caterham would be my choice, I think. Unless Bookatrack are offering the 620.

I'd skip the Ginetta, mainly because I can't get in it.

£1600!!! Id buy a bmw 330ci for that money, do the trackday, then sell it again when i got home.

Or, use the s2000. Cars shouldnt be garage queens unless they're worth at least 6 figures.

If the Caterham choice is limited to the Roadsport 140 I'd go Ginetta. If an R300 was available I'd probably go for that

Having a roadsport, I'd probably go Ginetta! The roadsport isn't an ideal car for a track with long fast straights. I'm assuming/hoping that the ginetta might do a bit better in terms of straight line / terminal velocity stuff.

Thanks to you both. Sadly the R300 has been booked, so it's a choice of those two (or paying another £500 for the GT5 Ginetta which is beyind the budget).

By the time you've paid £1500 anyway and the cost of the trip I'd be inclined to stretch the budget to the GT5..........

Have fun!

Some onboard footage of the Ginetta would be welcome 😎

I'll take the GoPro (need to find out what, if any, mounting they have).

Here's the S2000
