Hello,

Interested in doing some track days in Southern UK with a friend who has a slightly noisy Sierra, 103db.

Can anyone tell me what the limits are for Thruxton, Castle Combe and Goodwood track days please?

Also where would we find a list of events and organizers?

Thanks for any help and advice.

It can vary per track day on each circuit so there are no hard and fast rules. You need to check on each organisers day at each track, the noise limit is always specified www.trackdays.co.uk is a useful resource.

Motorsport Events airfield days at Abingdon are static 100Db(A) at 1 metre at 4,500rpm strictly enforced.

Going to struggle if it's really 103 dB, forget Thruxton totally, you'll fail the static there even if you are noise testing a few hundred miles away at at Cadwell wink

There are a few 105db days at Goodwood & you do get the very odd & rare full unrestricted noise day at Donny & Silverstone is normally 105 dB.

Have you considered an additional track day muffler? Merlin Racing Muffler, depending on how much it reduces noise you may/should find more days available get it under a 98dB and most circuits become viable, apart from Thruxton.

Castle Coombe is strict as hell, and Thruxton - as said before - forget it in anything other than an electric car :-)

However, if you don't mind a smaller track - Llandow - very relaxed on noise (can't actually remember being tested before).

Silverstone is quite generous on noise, and Donington has noisy days every so often.

Donington should have noisy days every day given there’s an airport just down the road! Used to amaze me when we race there that there was a strict 105db limit, they couldn’t test when there was a plane overhead. Used to be kept awake half the night with planes flying what felt like a couple of feet over the tent.

Also a bit bizarre that at HSCC race days there are different noise limits for different series.

I've never had an issue at Combe?

It's 105Db limit, 3/4 max revs @1m on bike days, not sure about cars

No it really isn't. It depends what on what has been on during the day.

Cars and bikes are different. 100db for cars at 4500 iirc.
