Hello, first of all I want to apologise for asking questions I know will be asked frequently on here. A friend is selling his 2000 Impreza track car, I’m very interested as 1) I love imprezas and 2) I’ve been toying with the ideas of starting trackdays. Now, what do I need to be able to take it to a track day? Apart from the obvious trailer, tyres etc, I mean can I just join a ‘bring your car to trackday’ on an MSV track? Or does it need to be mot’d or what? I don’t know how it works, I’m not looking at joining a race, just a trackday in a dedicated track day car....
Any help would be great

Get some tuition and learn how your car handles first:

You'll get much more out of track days if you have some idea what you're doing before you get there. I'd also recommend booking track- specific tuition at each track you attend.

You can just book a normal track day and turn up. The car won’t be checked by anyone at the circuit unless it’s too loud. Just make sure it’s safe and you’re sorted really. Get yourself a helmet, even a motorbike one will do and have fun.

Thanks for that, I’ve done bike trackdays before so I have the helmet, just wondered what else was essential

If it's already being used as a track car then as long as brakes/tyres are tidy you should be good to go. Maybe take your mate with you on the first one, or someone that has done some track time to ease you in a bit. Most importantly have fun!

The essentials are pretty straightforward really, helmet, licence, car!

I would suggest that you visit a couple of trackdays before purchasing anything though, Scoobies aren't unheard of but are not particularly common and there's some good reasons for this.

Hi just finished off my first year of track days and did Brands Hatch Indy twice , Castle Combe and the Nurburgring .

Have a read of the below as I had great fun this year as a novice and cant wait for next year .

I may have got a bit involved in building the car but even a stock car with good tyres , brakes and running correct will be great fun .
