Anyone going?

I'll be there in a Mk3 MX5. Last time was 1 degree and wet, very slippery but lots of fun!
Hoping for dry weather this time.

I'm going, silver GT86. Went last December when there was ice all over the track, hoping it's a little warmer this time.

Decided to go to this, will be a posse of 10 or so RX-8's. Being on a Saturday should be able get through London in the morning pretty quick rather going the long route through Dartford.

First time I've been here and usually with new tracks I play it first on a computer game to familiarise myself with the layout and lines, any modern games feature Bedford? Had a look and could only find Toca 3 which doesn't seem to be available on steam anymore.

Looking forward to the RX8s being there, last time I was with a friend with a 231 and it was completely neck and neck between us.

Bedford isn't a particularly hard circuit to learn, it has good visibility and no crests etc. Maybe just watch some POV videos on YouTube.

Just done one on the 12/11.

There you go, plenty of POV runs on the GT layout on my channel from various years/car setups.

Looking at the weather forecast for Saturday think I'm going to put Rainsports on.

Seems that it's sold out, good going this time of year.

I wouldn't worry too much about learning the track, it's fairly standard lines.

Pretty damp, very slippery all day.

Fair few track day first-timers which made speed differences interesting at times. At least 10 people span it on the last corner onto the pit straight.

By the afternoon they seemed to have given up black flagging people for sliding their car which made for an entertaining last couple of hours.

Was a fun day with a variety of cars ranging in value from ones only fit for scrap (Micra and a Puma spring to mind) to dedicated track cars trailered to the track and expensive machinery like M4's and porsches as well as few cars which looked like they just stumbled onto the track.

Was told off after just a few laps for 'drifting' so had to keep traction control/dsc on to remain on track which spoiled the fun somewhat as dozens of people spun out that day and didn't seem to face any repercussions.

Had an 'oh crap' moment looking in my rear view mirror from a massive oil burp in the morning session which took a while to clean out of the intake, it smoked quite badly afterwards for about half an hour, unintended benefit it seems to have cured the hesitation I've been experiencing around 6k rpm, perhaps the oil lubricated the intake valves?

Surprised by just how many drivers (myself included) put up their hands when the organisers asked who was here for the first time.
Lot's didn't seem to have had any previous track time at all on any track, braking way too early and not turning in enough (nearly ran into the back of a Golf R who braked after the corner!) and the blue flags weren't used enough, ended up repeatedly getting stuck behind fully stripped out Clio's and Honda's for multiple laps where I'd catch up and be held up in the corners then they would pull away on the straights which was annoying.

Decided to call it a day just after 3pm as the black flagged was waved at me, the marshalls said my discs were getting too hot (using hawk pads), was tempted to head out for one last go then saw an MX5 pull in where the marshalls completely saturated the brakes with the fire extinguishers so thought better of it.

Leaving the aerodrome something had happened just outside and the police had set up a roadblock so was diverted down some single track roads for around twenty minutes, was getting apprehensive as the fuel light came on but luckily made it to the petrol station with a few litres left.

Overall it was a decent day despite the weather.

Have some video which I'll put up once I have the chance.

Some photos by the ontrack photographer

I did wonder what the gaggle of RX8s was all about! You usually only get the odd one out and about.
