Morris Insurance quickie
Discussion
Quick question.......
Just about to confirm on some insurance for Sunday with PH at Silverstone. Morris will potentially be providing the policy but before I commit to spending £171.33 to cover my 30 minute session i want to ask if the policy they provide is worth the paper it's written on in the experience of those of you who have called upon it. Last year they only charged circa £90 as part of a PH offer and I didn't mind burning that for the pleasure...... but at £177 I am in need of reassurance that it's actually worth having when you need it.
Obviously it's to cover me trashing my P&J on track so it might sound like a bit of a bone question, but if in the unlikely event that I have an incident on track are they likely to do as I hope and pay out or are they more likely to do as many insurance companies do and look for every and any way to get out of it? I have risked it a few times already (Nurburgring TF, VMax.....) under the safety net of being able to write it off and deal with the headache later but I feel that as I am getting quicker in my car I hedge that any incident I have could potentially be worse than just a minor bump or slide through the gravel.
Don't flame me if this comes across as a daft question, just a simple "yeah they are ok" or "no they are slippery sods" response will do. I don't mind paying the money for insurance but I do mind if it's money burned because the policies are gash,
The car has a market value of circa £50k to give you a steer.

I assume there is a 10% excess to it, fairly safe to assume most likely damage will be less than £5k to fix. I think they have a good rep but chances of making a claim will be very small unless you really cause a lot of damage.
Excess is £2000 on the policy. Unfortunately for any repairer it's an expensive car to fix. Active front aero, carbon bonnet etc. Used them a few times now but never had to make a claim so cant comment on that. Defo the most competitively priced cover out there but £170 to cover a 50k car for 30 mins seems crazy expensive though, I've paid £220 to cover a full day at Bedford a couple of times for insured value of £75k.

That is kinda my point. It's a lot of money if it doesn't actually do anything for me if s
The reason I use MORIS for my multi-day Ring trips, is that I can get a pro-rata refund for any days I don't use (if I inform them in advance of course). So if the weather is looking terrible, or the car develops a fault I will get back some of what I've paid out.
Plus multi-day policies are very good value (only about double the cost for 4 days as for 1) - but that's probably because I haven't claimed in about 30 trips.

I used Morris about 10 years ago, made a claim on my race car, think the cost was about £150, with a £500 excess. I think I bought the total damage cover or some such, i.e my car was hit several times, so technically the first hit wouldn't have paid out had I not insured the total end damage. in the end they paid - I sent them a video, and after clawing the vat back through my dad's company I made £700 on the claim and got a showroom fresh race car. So they were ok then?
Basically if you have two hits, i.e. into the tyre barrier then t-boned by another driver, they won't pay out for the t-bone (steak), and if the initial hit is less than the excess they won't pay for that. Unless you buy their total cover.
hope this helps, although my reference point is years old.
