I have a MR2 Roadster that im building I to a track car ( see below build thread ) and am just thinking about oil starvation if any one has any thoughts on this ?

I have done one track day at Brands Hatch short course in the 1ZZ mr2 on stock tyres and suspension but will be going to Castle comb next with coilovers , suspension upgrades and Nankang AR1 track tyres and am thinking will the stock 1ZZ sump be ok for oil starvation ?

It is a Windage style sump ( Basically a flat plate on top of the sump )

The other option is the Elises parts baffled sump that is £ 480 but is this really needed im thinking

Hello mate.

Ive never had an MX5 but had a few track cars and yes, personally i would baffle the sump especially with the mods you will run. A long sweeping bend can easily starve the engine.

You dont have to spend a load of cash on it, but just a simple sump baffle.

I forgot to say, my baffles were just a plate that bolts into the sump so pretty cheap

I used AR1s on my Renaultsport Megane 225 and they were amazing in the dry! I only managed 3 trackdays with them though but are by far the best tyres ive used so far
