Performance Car Clubs - P1 etc - anyone tried them
Discussion
Nobody it would seem.......I seriously looked at P1 but when you actually do the numbers and bear in mind the mileage the actual forecast number ofdays hire is irrelevant as you are limited to 5000 miles (6000 with the higher level) i.e. excluding the joining fee you are paying £2.00 per mile.
They are not flexible on the mileage i.e. you cannot use more and you cannot buyany more.
Club Autopia looks like a better bet from a VFM point of view especially if you get one of the early memberships with unlimited mileage.
Classic Car Club seems to be popular as well and is now probably the most established of all of them.
We started track-club because none of the above (for very good reasons) will let you take the cars on track, P1 organises track days but they are very expensive.

Have a look at www.parc-ferme.co.uk, the range of cars is not great, but the other day they were letting you off the joining fee.
Though with 60 members it looks like you would only get the 328 once a year :-(

A friend did the P1 Club last year.
The intention was to enjoy driving a brand new top notch car whilst not having to pay heavily for the depreciation of ownership.
He got to drive loads of very nice examples of the latest releases (Murci, Gallardo, GT3RS, etc). Furthermore, his wish list changed dramatically - he was very disappointed with some cars, but really pleasantly surprised with others.
The Bentley Continental GT was so much better than he expected, and he took it out twice.
Most of the time he used the cars midweek, as you get much better value for money that at weekends.

Thanks for a couple of responses at least!
Reason I ask is I'm setting up a similar club over here in Spain, for ex-pats who visit here regularly but not often enough to justify owning such a car down here, and I'm interested to see what people liked and disliked about any such clubs they had used.
I'm serving a different type of client here, but the idea is the same, so any further comments along these lines gladly received.

I'm thinking about joining one of these clubs for the exactly these reasons. As far as I can tell Parc Ferme and Classic Car Club only deal with classics so I'm not interested in them. That leaves me with P1 and Autopia.
Are there any other choices out there?
Which would you recommend P1 or Autopia?
I looked at these but it turns out my girlfriend is too young to drive their cars (damn..)
Club autopia seemed good value - however details very very sketchy and I'd be reluctant to be one of the first to sign up.
P1 seemed the way forward and the range of cars is great - but you need to be forwarded by someone and it isn't cheap.
Revo250 is another option, although I dont know much about them. There is another club I've heard of in central london, but its very expensive (50k pa or something), but membership is very limited and cars include Enzo, SLR, Carrera GT etc!

Check out the High Performance Club:

In a slightly different take on this, HPC insurance covers members to drive each others' cars, so that members can (and regularly do) swap cars with one another at Club events.

I was amember of P1 for a year in 2003. I found the whole experience fantastic. The cars were immaculate and there was a superb range of cars that have recently got even better. The best all round car was the 550 Maranello, the best sound was the 360 Spider and the most excitement was the Noble.

that is Revo
I've had a look at the Revo website and they seem to operate in several countries but not London. Anyone know why?

Revo do operate in London albeit at a higher level, it's £50k per annum and the fleet will have an Enzo, Carrera GT, DB9, Murcielago and probably a new Roller.

Don't quote me on this but I think they've pulled out of London - didn't work out for them. Maybe they aimed a little too high with cars (and prices) of that nature...
I knew i'd seen it on here somewhere - http://pistonheads.co.uk/news/default.asp?storyId=10305 - don't know and haven't anything about this company. And i'm sure theres another one which released a press realse launching a new drivers club on here, i'll have a look.

Club Autopia was the other one. Has anybody signed up to Club Autopia yet. I would be interested to here what they're like.
I tried calling Club Autopia for info but they didn't return my call. I tried e-mailing them but again no reply. I guess the didn't manage to get off the ground then?
