Booked on to my first track day a few weeks ago since passing my ARDS test last year. It's a test in a Ginetta at Donington National for potential racing later on in the season.

Checking the attendees, it looks like there are now 55 cars booked on, with 14 places remaining - 70 in total. Is it just me, or is that a huge amount of cars for a 1.9-mile track? Anybody had these kind of numbers on a Javelin day there before?

That does seem like a lot although I think I've had similar numbers before on Javelin days (Snett though which is a fair bit longer.)

I always find that waiting for the mad rush to go out makes sense on a busy open pitlane day. i.e. do the ducks and drakes and then let everyone queue in the pitlane while you go for a cup of tea for 20 minutes or so. After that, it will spread out a bit.

The other plan is to wait until later in the day. I'm always surprised at how many folks disappear at lunchtime - come 3pm, you'll have the track to yourself. The only problem with this is you'll be more tired as trackdays are always early starts.....why they don't start at a more civilised time (~10am) I don't know...

Thanks for the advice. Hopefully you're right and people will clear off after lunch. Bit worried that I'll be spending my entire time driving in the mirrors looking out for the quick guys behind me and won't get a clean lap!
