Just made the local news - I've seen track days there and it does indeed seem to be 'challenging'.

Seems like it was a private track day.

I often wonder how long it will be before track days are banned along with everything else?

They'll be banned along with all other forms of motorsport shortly.

Even the jobs in Midlands won't persuade evil hordes that populate government in the UK.

Very sad. In a Pilbeam I hear. Anyone know how it happened (ie. was it a driver error, car failure or driver seizure etc) Condolences to the family and team and I hope Llandow come out of it OK.

I've known the chap who died for many years. Details are a little sketchy at the moment but from what I can gather he was driving a high powered go-kart of some description.

From top12runoff.co.uk

"Sad news has reached us about Rhys Howells.

The 61 year old tragically lost his life (April 26th 2005) testing at the Llandow Sprint course in Wales when driving his Pilbeam MP43 5.2 litre. Rhys won class G for Sports Libre Cars over 2 litres in the 2004 Leaders Championship. He was also a valuable sponsor of the class through his Monex concern."

We held a minute silence at Prescott last weekend in his memory.
