Hi guys
Well my post regarding the transit jumbo I recently ran on brands hatch was removed earlier today for a small error I made in being a tad to descriptive on who run scratchchinthings but we won’t go into that now...anyway I was planning on running it at Bedford on the 16th of this month but have received an email today informing me there is now a regulated height limit on vehicles which run on track days in the uk...I’m actually a tad disappointed im not going to lie but I understand they want to stop it for whatever the reason they feel. It’s a real shame because the van is actually set for some mild modifications in the next month which I was hoping to try at various circuits in the uk. It’s already running a stage 1 map and wider wheels but I wanted to go further with stage 2 map and suspension work which is close to being experimented with...obviously I hope I’ve not caused anyone any problems who already run commercial type vehicles on track days at the moment but they have made there mind up.
It now leaves me a bit lost with it as it was something a little different and having just sold my 182 I was going to really put some effort and time into it...do I give up or push on to build it ready for a trip to the ring to and say no to conforming scratchchin

What with the height limit and that, I’m sure they of course will be cancelling all truck racing planned at the circuits too...

I can kinda see their point though around stability. Maybe swap to a knocking together a ballistic Transit Connect instead?

I bet there’s no issues with the trucks because they are built for purpose but oh well
The transit connect is quiet cool and seen a few with engine swap and to be fair there very cheap as there engines tend to give up quiet easy so maybe a thing to look at

Transits are not for track days (if you cant work that out you must be a bit thick).

A mate of mine has a rally prepared Land Rover MSA spec and msv would not allow him to enter that one of their track days.
It's their track and it's their rules - they dont people getting in the way/dicking about in unsuitable vehicles.

I was overtaken by a Land Rover Discovery at a track day I did a few years ago. I had no problem with that.

Thanks for the nice comment much appreciated.
I asked and was allowed out on track and there was no dicking about as you put it,was running sensible lines, driving smoothly and allowing people past if needed

What is the height limit, out of interest?

And is your backdoor ban from the event organisers specifically, or the track?

No actual height limit has been specified as yet but point blank told I’m to high but I understand, hopefully details about height to be specified soon for other people to know.
Event organisers thumbup
The organisers were very nice about the whole thing and gave me no aggravation and even refunded me half a day to say sorry for the cancellation of the afternoon session

MSV have a limit of 1.85m here:
http://www.msvtrackdays.com/car/faq/

You'll have to stick to the nurburgring, they let vans on there.

I saw the videos you posted on youtube, bloody brilliant biggrin

Lydden is a pretty relaxed place, I am sure they would allow a van on if that appeals? I've seen a Ford Bronco 4x4 going round at least...

Yep me and a friend are actually doing a ring trip just for the hell of it..only concern is pads at the moment. Just really wanted an upgraded set of pads with new discs all round before we go but not had any joy as yet!

Pretty cool idea to get a bit of van track time in the uk,I’ll inquire thanks.
It’s definitely doing the ring this summer just trying to get things sorted before we go like brakes and suspension but it’s a very odd thing spin

Check the calender for the Ring and see if you can time your trip to do the GP track aswell. As TF is also operated there on various evenings.
Love this stuff. I live near the Ring and instruct there and at Spa. A friend of mine has a race Kangoo. If you come out, ping me a message via PH and I'll see if I can get him to give you a passenger lap. It is an absolute hoot. Quick aswell for an old diesel, all TUV'd and road legal.

That’s sounds absolutely epic! I’ll hold you to that!
