Was very surprised at a very damp Thruxton yesterday where the overtaking rules were either side?

Despite that, and the atrocious weather in the morning only one red flag all day which I thought was pretty good, normally the first sight of rain sees people grass cutting.

Is this a new thing for trackdays, I thought it was just RMA that allowed overtaking on either side?

Depends on the track owner which side you overtake, some tracks on the left and some on the right. Thruxton is a new venue for public trackdays and I haven't been there yet. Guess Thruxton are trying a new approach.

It seemed to work well, with only one red flag as mentioned.

I was there, in this - seen here alongside my friend's Megane 225:

I did 2 Javellin days there last year, one of them which had a few vw cup cars at was pass each side, I put it down to having a lot of actual racers there.

I was one of the slower cars and didnt find it too bad, preferred it truth be told.

Thruxton isn’t a new venue for track day. MSE & Goldtrack have been running there for years; Javelin joined the party from last year.

It’s the one circuit where overtaking on both sides work due to its layout.
