Insurance Recommendations For Modified Track Car
Discussion
Does anyone have any recommendations for an insurer who will cover my modified E46 M3 track car for road use?
Ideally with an agreed value and a number of track days included for free.
Standard insurance companies doubled the cost of my insurance just for adding a BBK so I don't think it's worth trying the usual ones.
I've done a search obviously but not much comes up. Also I've heard of Moris and am about to get a quote from them but there was a post I found on pistonheads saying his friend had had a bad experience with them and to avoid at all costs which obviously has to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Have used Adrian Flux previously with my kit car but also not heard good things about them on PH!
Many thanks!

I use Competition Car Insurance. They cover my highly modified E46 M3 track car, include 6 trackdays a year and can add on more at a fairly reasonable cost (which escapes me right now).
33yo male, London, 4000 miles a year, 7 years no claims mirrored, £730 a year. Very friendly on the phone too. Worth a try.

Thank you, I actually just read about them after another google search and rang them for a quote.33yo male, London, 4000 miles a year, 7 years no claims mirrored, £730 a year. Very friendly on the phone too. Worth a try.
Strangle as I was quoted for 34yo male, midlands, (small town near worcester), 1500 miles a year, 9 years no claims mirrored, for £1,300!
If it had been £700 I probably would have taken it out as I have a quote from adrian flux for £450 with all modifications but that didn't include track day cover.
I'll ring CCI again and tell them OllyBlox has it way cheaper and I want it that cheap too!
I also rang Mannings which has also been mentioned on PH but they don't do track only cars on a road policy
I rang CCI back and they hadn't mirrored any of my NCB in fact so they added two years, which is the most they can mirror if it's not the same company (Aviva).
That has brought it down to just under £800 which I'm pleased with as it's only £350 for the 6 track days so think I'm going to go for it!

Cheers - it'll be nice to be able to drive it on the road if I feel like it too

Try A-plan.
Just google modified car insurance, it will come up with approximately 620,000 hits, get on the phone & save.
I was looking for direct recommendations which I got and have already acted on.Try A-plan.

620,000 hits - thanks, that would really help me narrow it down!
Is the car road legal?
I have a policy with Mannings which covers me for unlimited trackdays, they were also cheaper than CCI & Footman James. - They also have added bonus that you do not have to call to register your car when you book a trackday your automatically covered.
If the car is road legal, state its a road car with mods that you use for trackdays, not a modified trackcar you use for the road

It is road legal yes but the guy on the phone asked if it had a roll cage (it has) and he said that they would be a sure sign it would be classed as a track car.I have a policy with Mannings which covers me for unlimited trackdays, they were also cheaper than CCI & Footman James. - They also have added bonus that you do not have to call to register your car when you book a trackday your automatically covered.

I've taken out the CCI policy now anyway and am happy with the price but thanks!
For future reference and for anyone else reading this thread Greenlight specialise in modified cars, track day cover, and they can do agreed value too.

Too late now but another vote for A-plan, they got me an unbeatable deal on my E46 M3 with track days included and are very modification savvy.

Thanks and I'll bear these in mind for next year.slowTwitch said:

I use them, think they exclude BMWs though...Correct, Greenlight won't cover BMWs at all. The sweet spot for them is modified or high performance cars at the cheaper end of the market - they are very, very competitive in that sector though.
