Just been reading on another forum that it's possible all the planned Lyneham trackdays are going to be stopped from happening. Didn't last long frown

I wonder what ‘great deal of concern’ exactly? People accessing the site, noise? Otherwise it’s all inside a secure perimeter fence with approved visitors.

I’m booked on one for May 28th. Gutted for Motorsport Events as they put in great days and this will be a right kick in the financials for them.

I hope that a higher authority over-rides the decision - if decision there is.

There's a little valley that channels engine noise all the way to Wootton Bassett. Having said that, a typical car is a lot quieter than a hercules' engines.

But there must have been some decision made or study done to identify an acceptable noise limit because with MSE Lyneham runs at 102dB compared to say Abingdon where the limit is 100dB IIRC.

Would a review after some operational experience not be more appropriate rather than simply demanding ceasing activities...

Iv just had an email from MSE confirming all future track days at lyneham are cancelled and the event iv paid for on the 10th March will need to be refunded or transferred

Seems there might be a small ray of hope to get these reinstated

Can we have this put on the home page as a story to drum up support!

They may need heseltines permission smile

He seems rather proud of the announcement, wants Lyneham to reopen and doubt he's open discussion if he has already bypassed a consultation.

This. As a car community this is exactly the sort of thing that PH should throw their weight behind! How to make it so?

Signed. A great shame as it was another good venue.

Looks like there is an option to contact the MP using the original link...

I've signed and also emailed the MP (politely). I think the way to go is to request a fair review of the complaints and an opportunity for MSE to respond. That doesn't seem unreasonable. Essentially, if the MP in question is asked for a debate but denies one, it's hardly democratic process is it? The high dB limit also give MSE some wriggle-room too.

I'd be interested to know what the 'concerns' were. Is it just noise?

Hi all,

Just to say the homepage story on this is being written now; apologies for the delay, Geneva has rather dominated the past few days... Thanks to Fishy_Dave for bringing it to our attention!

All the best,

Matt

Signed.

Bloody NIMBYs engaged in a race down to the most boring existence ever where no one can do anything.
