Hi all,

Now I guess you're still laughing from the title but please bare with me! Yes I know I own a s**t heap, but it's a great little commuter car for my boring round commute to work. My question is, as a novice, could I use it to do a track day. I do own a 996 as my fun weekend car, but I don't fancy smashing that to pieces on my first outing. The thought of smashing up a car which cost me 400 quid doesn't scare me as much as the alternative!

Let me know your thoughts.... Go easy, I'm new!

I would take both cars with you, I would guess you will be feeling comfortable on track after just a couple of sessions and then spend the rest of the day wishing you were in your Porsche.

You should not be resigning yourself to smashing anything to pieces.

You are aware that you would be sat inside this paper thin car that you are expecting to roll into a ball aren't you?

Get instruction and don't go beyond your limits. Use the Porsche.

If you are that worried why not hire a Caterham through BAT or many other organisations?
