16:00hrs at Maidstone services for those who are catching the 17:45 crossing ...

Fancy it... We'll even go slow for the 'towing troops' ....

Cheers

Sounds good to me.

Just think of all the fun you'll have driving along the motorway with us trailer boys, knowing that you won't get nicked for speeding

Not a problem - since I'm under the speed limit, I'll be in a position to make all my calls, have lunch, a shave and send some emails

What's wrong with that? I won't be speeding!!!

CarZee,

I noticed from your profile that you're based in Basingstoke. I live just up the road in Tadley.

What do you normally drive? I might have seen you around.

A metallic red Nissan Primera (the shame!) and latterly a black Audi TT coupe. Shortly to be a TVR S2.

If you've seen me driving round Basingstoke - your thoughts on the matter are likely to have been "tosser" or "lunatic" or somesuch

So you're the tosser in the Primera then

Isn't that the car they advertised as "Inadequate Car"? A masterstroke of the advertising trade. Almost as good as "The slow bastard in front is driving a Toyota", or some such nonsense.

Will you be taking the tatty TT to Folembray? Look out for me on the M3/25/20. I don't think you'll miss me. I'll be in the large Mercedes estate towing a bright yellow Ultima on a trailer

James

PS. Last few shiny bits srrived this morning, and I've stuck them all on now, so the car is all ready to go

James,

I'll be the petrified passenger clawing at the door locks inside CarZee's Primera.

Has your Ultima got a passenger seat? If so, Any chance I can blag a passenger ride at some point during the day? (It will probably result in me selling my house, my wife, all my possessions to get one... but there you go).

Ding! If you are able to give passenger rides James I'd love one.

Yep. It has to have a passenger seat for the championship I run it in. Passenger rides will be available to all those who think they can put up with my driving

I took Martina out on a track day last Summer. I told her that if she wanted me to stop, she just had to tap me on the knee (grabbing your arm is a bit distracting). After 5 laps, she would tap me on the knee, and we'd go in. A few months later she admitted that she had spent 3 of those 5 laps wanting to go in, but thought I might be offended if she did

Noooo.. when I said 'latterly', I meant we sold it recently..

I'm going in the Primula. Have hired a Caterham Superlight for the day.. though I might have to do a few laps in the Primula just for the crack

Have to say, a ride in your Ultima would be luvverly

So I won't be the slowest thing in the convoy then

We could meet up on the M3 and do the whole journey in convoy if you like. I don't mind going a bit slow

I might have to run a waiting list for passenger rides at this rate

Errm.. I don't recall holding any Tivs up when we were doing 90 round the twisties going to Pie on the Beach Couldn't fathom what those Griffs were braking for meself (FWD quicker in practice? A discussion for another time... )

Anyway, I digress. I'm not coming from the M3 as such. I'm heading down from work, meaning I'll be joining the M25 one junction up from the M3 at about 1400-1415. I'll be looking to make deft progress to mitigate against impending rush hour ineptitude.

And I'd fall asleep at the wheel doing 60 all the way from Blazingstroke to Dover

I'll email you my mobile number and we can meet up at Clackett Lane if we're passing there about the same time? (15:15ish)

My plans to do the TVRCC day at Cadwell & then make a late dash to the Eurotunnel look to have gone for a ball of chalk.
Now thinking of a mid afternoon chunnel & an N road blast to the hotel, instead of the autoroute. Any recommendations?

Hey! I was braking to avoid running into the back of the Griff in front of me, which was braking to avoid running into the back of a Cerbera, which was braking to avoid running into the back of Don's Poxster at the head of the convoy

That's my story and I'm sticking to it...

I'd slow down a bit for those M25 junction CarZee. 1415 seems a bit quick to me ...
