Has anybody got any experience of obtaining breakdown cover if you're towing. The AA ("to our members we're the 4th emergency service") flatly refuses, even if you say you only want the tow car covered by it's 5 star or whatever service. They suggest I call one of their competitors.

Anybody managed to get anything, this can't be an unusual requirement?

RAC seem to provide cover for towed vehicles as well.

They will only recover the trailer together with the tow vehicle (or presumably the tow vehicle alone).

They can arrange for recovery of the trailer alone but you are responsible for the costs incurred.

Maximum trailer length 7.6m including tow bar.

I think the Caravan Club offer cover, as its classed as a trailer. I am not sure of the details but I think they may use the AA, maybe someone can enlighten me?

Thanks guys, got RAC to cover it in the end, and I will NOT be renewing with AA.

BTW, on ferries, we've moved to 15:15 sailing. The charge for Gilly's Chimaera was 24 squid, but, because I've got a trailer, it's 69 squid. In case anybody wants to know.

Thought 15:15 means we can have a gentle tootle and civilised dinner / beers.
