Afternoon all,

Looking for some advice, wanting to book a driving experience (half or full day one not supercar 3-4 laps) and have been looking at options for up to £500. I own a F80 M3 but not keen to take it on track at the moment, so was looking at options where I could tick off the following requirements:

- drive an M3/M4 round a track with some decent advice to go with it
- to improve driving capabilities for my own car (particularly understanding limits/skid control etc)
- gain general experience on track

Had narrowed it down to two which are:
- Palmersport GT half day
- BMW Masters of Performance https://drivingexperiences.bmw.co.uk/masters-of-pe...

Palmersport seem to get best reviews, but BMW tempting given the cars you seem to have access to, although they have changed the driving experience details within last week as used to be BMW M Experience and didn't have the M5 or M4 CS previously.

Any other options I am missing? I did look at trackday options to rent a car and have a day on track with instructor but ones I found were over £500 plus dedicated track cars, whereas I hope to get experience on track in a similar car to mine.

Thanks

The answer to this question is usually “Palmersport” but I think in your case the BMW half day would be more appropriate - and cheaper. I’ve done a BMW M experience at Bedford and the M4 “race car” stage, which is against the clock, was what I would want to do again.

Done the Bmw M4 master at Palmer Bedford( also the old m3 v8) a couple of times and it's a great setup there with great instructors. From driving their cars hard can certainly see why you don't want to put your road car on track.

Saying that the Bmw experience you put a link to looks certainly very interesting. It seems to not be one of those stay in 3rd gear drive a Ferrari experiences you often see around. Looked on the link but couldn't see a price. How much is it?

Always worth youtubing driving experiences to get an idea of wether they really want you to push or just cruise around but this one looks too new to come up with much.

this may be useful... or not.

car limits do a activity day in your own car.
only one car on a track per time, so its about as safe as you can get. and you get to know the limits.......

from memory its £45

they also do days training for nearer your budget, similar setup to the above but a lot more track time and instruction

If you are more interested in tuition I would look at a track day with instruction as you should get more one on one time, as much as you want to pay for. Possible to do one with car hire from the organiser as well., BaT will hire you a Caterham, anything up to the 620R. Car limits will also do something similar with their 121 tuition.

Other option would be something like the Pure McLaren experience: http://cars.mclaren.com/experiences/pure-mclaren its on my list for next year, obviously more expensive than the average experience but the next step up from something like the above (which I have done for the last couple of years). You get time with the instructor both in the car and out of the car reviewing data.

You could try http://catdrivertraining.co.uk/

Half day maybe in budget.

I did a full day in my car with instructor at Millbrook. Great experience, learnt a lot and the centre they have is pretty fun (150mph round a speed bowl)

Always a +1 from me and have done a few courses with Colin.
