Ok so over the weekend I had an impulse buy, and ended up with a 1995 n/a mr2.

The car has previously been tracked, so stripped out etc, it is in need of front brakes and I’ll give it an oil change.

I did notice once I’d got it home both rear arches have pretty much rotten through to the boot (kicked myself hard as this was an easy spot I just didn’t bother to look), hoping these can fixed with a bit of welding, so if anyone can recommend a welder in Essex.

So besides sorting out the above and getting a helmet, is there anything else I need to consider, as I’ve got my eye on a day at snet I’m January?

Also I’ve got a spare set of wheel with proxy’s on them but where there is plenty of tread, the rubber tread looks deformed through previous track days (tread has lipped up across the tyre) will these be ok to run?

I purchased my 182, a week later I was at a track, all I done was checked the oil. Turned up with a mate and 2 helmets and off we went.

It's now turned into a bit of a money pit, with negative cambers, spacers etc It gets addictive!

The tyres will do that, should be fine, pending weather.

Similar here, bought a £500 MG ZT, just sorted out the brakes and made sure all the fluids were good, and took it to Bedford. Gently building up on the track day helps to prevent braking things and to find out the car's limits. Also make sure the car and you get a rest regularly helps coming out of it in one piece. With these kind of purchases, I tend to drive at 9/10th on the first track day rather than 11/10th, if that makes sense.

Check its not leaking fluids, then fill your boots.

Do you think it’s wise to sort the rear arches, or do a track day first, in case the car gives up completely and figure out what else is wrong?

The car does have a weep from the gearbox, not a leak will this be ok?

I'd put some fresh brake fluid in it and check the pad thickness.

If you'd have a few pennies lying around and some time - maybe a set of good track day front brake pads, DOT 5.1 fluid and some braided brake lines might be worth installing. I've been hooning around a 1.5 ton car flat out with modifications set out above, and the braking never faded or felt weak. Nothing more frustrating than going to a track day, cooking your brakes in 2 session and then having to sit and wait for it all to settle down.

Ok so I've just ordered some EBC Yellowstuff pads, now I'm thinking its probs worth changing the disc's too.

I've found some cheap plain blueprint disc 30mm thick, are these ok to use, as reading up on this the disc don't seem to matter that much??

Anyone had any experience with these?
