Thread drift smile How does the Mustang compare to your old Monaro?

Was a good day out, loved the Mustang - I tried hard to keep with it for a couple of laps late afternoon but couldn't quite keep up and then traffic got in the way. How much power does it have? ( we were in the grey Focus RS which was great all day).

I actually bought the Mustang because it's the closest modern equivalent to the Monaro!

The Mustang is a better car in every way, but it is 10yrs newer. The Ford V8 is much more eager to rev than the LS2, redline is at 7.5krpm, interior much nicer, brakes on the mustang are seriously good.

Handling wise standard they are similar, but now the Mustang is on Coilovers it's on another planet.

Oh yeah the Mustang is much much more reliable. 17k miles now of abuse and trackdays and not a single squeak or rattle.
Thanks and interesting to read.

Is it right hand drive and what year is it?

Was a good day with some interesting weather thrown in the mix. Was there with friends in the blue Impreza with gold wheels, and a friend who was on his first trackday in the orange Fiesta ST.

This happened while I was driving the Subaru which made for an interesting conversation with the cars owner hehe

-Z-, what exhaust do you have on your Mustang? Nicest sounding one I've heard so far.

Cracking day - alternated between being reasonably quick and quite slow; introduced my father to his first track day (in a caterham of all things), not the most relaxing experience especially once it rained, but made his day, massive win, and possibly the oldest driver out there. I had a slightly scary 100mph spin thanks to the 3 series that dumped all its coolant at fast chicane and caused the pre-lunch red flag; rather interesting reversing across the grass at very high speed chased by the mx5 that went off forwards, but everyone lived, and nothing got bent. Very much enjoyed a few wet and very slidy laps at the end too, only the long drag home in the rain that was a proper slog!

Oh, and I was following the (dark) blue impreza for a while, was quite fun watching the inside rear waving in the air off the corners smile
