Hi,
I'm doing my first track session on Thursday (7th Sept) at Rockingham raceway.
Open pit as part of the summer social event they run.

Any advice from anyone who has been there and done it before, would be appreciated.

Excited / a little nervous smile

Cheers
Lee

What vehicle are you using and do you know which layout?

Regardless it's a good track imo no idea why some people don't rate it, just build your speed up and you won't have any problem at all.

It's extra slippy when wet or greasy though so bear that in mind.

In a Golf R with DSG.

I have no idea, what the layout for the track is, TBH.

If it's wet be careful, it's the most slippery track I've ever been on!

In the dry it's nice and easy to learn, flat with mostly straightforward corners...that's probably why some people don't rate it as much.

My advice is book tuition; Tarzan is called that for a reason and you could waste a lot of time learning the lines for the sake of £20mins and a few quid with an instructor.

Other than that, as with any road car on track, adjust tyre pressures, take the loose stuff out and do a few laps at 2/3rds pace to get the feel of the car, track and pace of others around you before trying to beat the recent BTCC pole quali time :{}

and a quick Google tells you the track config:

"The day takes place on Rockingham's 2.05 mile International Supersports Car Long Circuit"; you may want to watch the YouTube videos here http://www.rockingham.co.uk/venue-information/circ...
