Hi, sorry for the obvious question, but I'm looking at taking my Caterham R300 to Snetterton on 7th September as Torque have a half price sale. Anyone know what a decent laptime would be?

Thanks Lewis. Will you be going? I've done a bit of track driving but never been to Snetterton, wondering if getting some tuition may be worthwhile. Anyone used any of the Torque Motorsport instructors before?

I won't be there. Have a look over on YouTube to become familiar with the circuit

Targets for you.
TVR Sagaris with a 4.5 AJP engine (think 1990s Tuscan racer) did the lap in 2.06 on a track day last month.
Ginetta GT5 was 2.14.

I was there recently and saw a new M3 on slicks doing 2.07. It was standard other than remap, even standard suspension. Extremely impressed!

I've done:
2:18 in Megane 250 stock power but negative camber and AD08R
2:16 in stock BMW M135i
Circa 2:10 modified skyline r32 GTR on KU36 road tyres

Lots of vids on YouTube of some tasty laps, prefer the quick tin tops myself but the radical type things are mind blowingly quick!!

If you run slicks I'd go with sub 2:10 as well.

I've been only twice in an E46 M3 (KW Clubsports, Uprated brakes, AD08R tyres). My fastest was a 2.15

That's a good time for a stockish e46, I've been there a few times and wouldn't have got anywhere near that in my old e46.

The lines are obvious, I think you will find. Most intuitive circuit i have driven.
Only comments I can add are that Corams, the 180 degree corner at the end of the lap, tightens at the end, which can surprise you if you are right on the limit, and the first corner (Riches?) is actually a double apex, with the second apex quite late.

It's a great circuit - hope you have a good time.

You'll be in good company with torque motorsports. It's run by Caterham racers who should be able to give a few helpful pointers to get the most out of your R300.

At the last track day I was at Snett there were a few cars finding the tyre wall, so it can bite. Just focus on having fun and the time will come.

For the record, 2:13 in my 135bhp 1.6 Caterham on AO48's.

Hi all, thanks for the advice, I'm looking forward to it. I'm not sure if I will be quite as competitive as those lap times but good to have something to aim for!

As luck would have it they're doing a half price discount code too at the moment 'monza50' according to their facebook, so it's only £92.50 for a trackday - happy days!

Watched a few videos, it looks like a good circuit.
