Twin-head track day at Sculthorpe

North Norfolk's bomber runways ideal for fast cars...

Prova Motorsport has announced its first three track days for 2005 at what must be one of the most impressive airfield venues in the country – Sculthorpe Airfield in North Norfolk. Dates are:

  • 16 April
  • 8 May
  • 30 May

Prova said that the events will be unique in running two circuits at the same venue as part of one track day. The much-praised original 1.6 mile handling circuit’ be used as well as a new three-mile, high speed circuit that uses much of the 2.2 mile main runway as well as elements of the crossing runways. It's said to be super-fast and smooth with vast run off areas, and more suitable for those fast and kit cars that prefer a more open, faster circuit.

The two circuit format will maximise the huge potential of this vast site as well as offering a choice to the track day goer of a tight, twisting circuit to test their handling capabilities, or a fast, sweeping run moving in the opposite direction to even out tyre wear. Both circuits will be accessible from the same pit lane and will operate an open pit lane format.

Prova said that initial runs have been promising and will announce the rest of its 2005 calendar for 2005 soon. The firm said its first track-days, held during 2004, proved to be very popular with everybody who attended.

"We do our best to offer a relaxed, informal, yet professionally run day with a great atmosphere", said Prova's Duncan Irvine Robertson.

The price will be £110 plus £10 for extra drivers and passengers. Helmet hire and instruction will be available on the day at very reasonable cost.
