Couple of us doing April Circuit Days event.
Only done Tourist day previously (last 10 years) but either I am getting older or they are getting more like Wacky Races every year.
What are the trackdays like?

After each trip I write a bit of a report which always end up being much longer than planned...
Anyway, here is a report I wrote from 2 days at Spa and then the Circuit Days trackday in April 2016 http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
This was my Destination Nurburgring report from April 2016 http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
And the ridiculously long 2 day DN event in September 2016 http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
If you have a scan of any of them, you`ll hopefully get a feel for how they are run and how quiet they are compared to TF. The biggest thing for me is the relaxed nature of them. Where with TF you have a small window when it`s open and almost felt like you HAD to get out lapping, but on a trackday you`ll often see people wandering round the carpark on a trackday even when the circuit is live and their car is fine. There just isn`t the need from most drivers to get out and lap all day long.
You`ll always get some who see it as a challenge to get in as many laps as possible but even I don`t do that and those who know me are aware I usually do between 200 and 250 miles on a typical UK trackday.

Ello m8ys, just a quick info question about the weather there, I've heard that the temperatures there don't get up even during the summer, and that the rain is very common especially during the summer? Is it true that April and May would be the best time to visit, to avoid rain?
The weather is basically the same as the UK. So cold in winter and then it can be wet, dry, warm or cold the rest of the year. Disagree ref summer temps, usually considerably hotter than UK, have sweltered many many 'ring summers.
Rain wise no more risk than Uk, however is indeed the odd end of day shower after hot sunny days when it's more like the tropics than Germany, which is a pain if you are there just for eve Tf, not uncommon to be lovely all day for testing or track day use, then heavens open just as the tf barrier opens, but on the flip side have had wet track day & it brightens up as day ends & the evening tf lot have had a glorious evening.
So just pick a date & fingers crossed really.

I'm booked on the April event held by Circuit Days, I can't wait to finally get some proper track time on the Ring. Here's hoping
I started a thread for this particular event here - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Great, super guys. Looking forward to meeting many of you in April (with Circuit Days), in May and/or in August (with Destination Nurburgring). I'll either be in a McLaren 12C (in uncommon dark blue) or, depending on the weather forecast, I'll bring my Lotus 3-Eleven (which goes to build this week) if I'm feeling particularly brave!
Hi Nigel - loving your Golf track special. I think I've seen it in action on previous visits to the Green Hell. Quite a weapon and many scalps taken I bet judging by how quickly you were lapping.

Going with a reputable club like Circuit Days or Destination Nurburgring is definitely the way to go. After 5+ years getting my Ring fix on Tourist Days I decided it was just getting too busy and too dangerous. A hugely frustrating weekend which coincided with German Car Friday was the end for me. Also fast cars and fast bikes do not mix. Wacky Races is spot on!Only done Tourist day previously (last 10 years) but either I am getting older or they are getting more like Wacky Races every year.

Although they aren't cheap, club track days are infinitely better - less hectic, less queuing and less accidents, although you still can't rule them out. I always have a wry smile on my face when young guys turn up in powerful rear drive cars and, because they're done 100 laps on Playstation, think they know the circuit like the back of their hands. They usually last half a lap

I went last year with a friend and his 650S only for it to pop a boost hose on the way down, so didn't get round the ring

It's also possible to just show up there and get a ticket for a round, right? Or do I have to book in advance?
Just turn up, obviously assuming you've checked the calendar first, but be aware occasionally evenings opening can get put back if an event over runs or buys more time etc, wk ends are far more firm.Me and a friend of mine are coming along. I'm in my Mk3 Focus RS which should be on Cup2s with the Mountune FPM375 upgrade by then, and my mate should be bringing hits Cayman GT4. Really looking forward to it...done many, many laps with work, but never actually taken my own car!
Booked most stuff already, and probably travelling down Monday morning.

Thanks, will take a read.
I have also been watching your instruction videos on youtube. Looks like a lot of effort went into them, so thanks. It is a place where there is always something new to learn.
