Cadwell Park Trackday in a 700bhp Evo 5Rs
Discussion
My mate (Alex) has just sent me some footage from a trackday late last year so I thought I'd pop it on here.
There's a lot of in car footage around with annoying camera angles or cameras that seem to make the car look like it's doing 20mph despite going pretty quickly.
With this video I think we got a decent angle that shows what's going on inside the car and out. In this position the GoPro seems to do a good job of getting across what these crazy cars can be like just messing around on a mere trackday and the way they just eat up the track.
So, here we go...no aero, no race fuel, oem diffs, 5 year old slicks, 700bhp, my old shed, Alex and me...having a ball at Cadwell Park. I hope you enjoy the ride.
(Make sure you choose the HD option on youtube and crank up the volume)

yeah ive noticed lately that event organizers allowing race cars on track with daily drives.. certainly more so out of season
probably to increase revenue, the speed difference is huge...
an accident waiting to happen no matter how good the drivers are....
car looks mega OP.. driven well too

I usually drive it there. Takes 2 hours from sheffield and it's horrible. lol.probably to increase revenue, the speed difference is huge...

I've never raced it but it is set up for sprinting.

Just watched it again...it looks like the Cadwell park I know and love...but somehow it's different when it's being pummelled by a 700bhp sledgehammer!
I went round there twice last year for the first time on a bike and that Evo looks like it would run a similar pace. Hard to say as the video kept getting cut before a full lap and the last bit on the bikes they put a chicane to slow you down due to lack of run off before the bridge jumpBirky_41 said:

Kenny wasn't going to show you a whole lap strung together, or you would have a lap time. So would his competitors LOLandyj007 said:

At Castle Combe (in spring time especially), a third of the entry are race cars looking for a set up on new machinery for the year. The drivers all know the track day rules and in the main comply with them very well. I cannot see any problems as long as all drivers are driving with respect.

Oh yes agreed and it's quite nice to see a few fully race focused cars on track among the rest. One of the attractions to track days is the eclectic list of cars sharing the same track. That thing has some fantastic pace - clearly a very serious piece of kit. But I've always wondered what sort of satisfaction owners of ridiculously high-performance cars get from mixing it with MX5s and Clios on a relatively small/narrow trackday.
Some of those closing/passing speeds are utterly mental, and it doesn't leave a lot of margin for error if you're sharing the track with relative rookies in less well-built machinery (i.e. the average trackdayer). It also means that the rookie is going to be spending half their day with one eye on their mirrors and a hand hovering over their indicator.
Surely something like this is only really any use or fun for testing/racing/sprinting?
