Alan you do NOT need even more practice - you made it look a little too easy at last year's sprint! Aiming for May 20th trackday before event, with the Ginetta, or maybe the TVR if plump for a gentle amble around learning the lines. Have fun.

Hi Paul.
Good to hear from you, never can have too much practice....
I've registered for the speed championship this year and hope to get to a few rounds, other commitments permitting that is. I'm sure my local knowledge gave me an unfair advantage last year, can't see that happening at other venues!
The T350 looks fab! Hope we'll get a chance to see that soon.
What's the May 20th event by the way?
Regards, Alan

I have the opportunity to go to a day at pembrey in the summer - can anyone tell me what the surface and runoff is like? Is there lots of space if you get it a bit wrong?

Alan - good to hear you're entering the fray: you'll feel at home at sprints but any hills would be a little different! 20th is just a general test session, so no doubt legions of slick-shod circuit racers to fend off, hope it's not usually too crowded

Greig - yes lots of high-speed runoff even at GT3 speeds, which I explored a few times last year...oops.

As Paul says, run off is generous in most places, only proviso is of course that the grass is slippery when wet and that some caution is needed at Honda curve (fast) esp going normal (clockwise) direction since if you get on to the grass on the outside there is a tendency to get spat towards the pitlane wall when you regain the black stuff particularly if the car is well sideways. Being aware of that is probably enough to avoid any nasty moments however. Elsewhere you have to try pretty hard to make contact with something.
Surface: thsi was newly laid about 2 y ago and is pretty high grip and self draining (porous structure) and also smooth, basically an excellent surface. The circuit is heavily used by the touring car and F3 teams for tesing throughout the test season.
