Hiho,

We need insuance cover for a track day in Spain. However we need the cover to include recovery back to the UK. Any thoughts?

So far we have found track day insurance that will pay for the accidently damage but will NOT recover us.

We have AA/RAC cover that will recover us but NOT from a track day!

Most annoying

TIA

Have the AA/RAC stated they will not recover your car from a track day?

I was recovered by the AA from a Bedford track day last year, no problem.

Plus I've seen loads of cars recovered due to mechanical issues from track days in europe.

I believe so .... The wife was going to go with the AA and mentioned that the T&C's state that there will be no recovery for track days. So we now have to reconsider.

AA 5 Star European T&C's

Section 1, Clause 8.
The cover is not available to vehicles which are overloaded, used in rallying, off-road driving or in the Nürburgring or for motorsports. It may not be used in place of regular servicing.

Track days ARE NOT rallying and not motorsport so unless your at the Ring they should recover you.

If your still worried about the cover, if your car breaks, ask someone friendly to trailer it to your hotel then Ring the AA.

Hmmm .... Worried about how I would explain it to the AA if the car gets a little too intimate with a tire wall.

have a look at first call - www.firstcallmotorbreakdown.co.uk/

you will need to check their T&C's - suggest calling them.

you might want to ask if they will do a deal for piston heads members - as we managed to get uk & euro cover for just £43.50 per car.. at that price it's a pretty good back up..

if you do see if they will do it for p/heads heres an idea of what we got..

Tow rope & a mates car to take it 5- 10 miles away & say you hit a truck.

Job done.

I have no idea what the T&Cs say but check Direct Line European cover. They were miles cheaper than adding on European cover to my current AA cover when I went to Zolder. As I said, don't know what their terms are about recovering from a circuit.
