10-12 Silverstone
Discussion
Very wet but a great day. That Merc was two cars ahead of me gts, sounded great up until then. Had had an instructor with me for two 30 minute sessions - what a difference knowing the wet line around Silverstone makes! Best track day in a while, just a pity it was all over by 2.30ish. I thought everyone was pretty well behaved for the conditions though.

Bridgestone Potenza RE050. Tyre pressure is important though - I made the mistake of dropping pressures a bit as I would on a dry track day. Down from 2.3 to 2.0 on the front and 2.5 down to 2.2 on the rears, expecting this to provide a larger contact patch in the slippery conditions. Big mistake and I was all over the place. Instructor explained that firstly they won't heat up as much and secondly lowering pressures messes with the treads ability to channel water away. Went back up to 2.3 and 2.5 and grip was vastly improved. I must have spent around four hours out on track and nearly two tanks of fuel and very little wear. Really pleased with them.

This is precisely why you should always work to "hot" pressures And guess your cold temps much higher in the wet?
