Is anyone doing Mallory on the 19th?

I'll be there for my last trackday before my engine rebuild.

Never been to Mallory before so any tips are welcome!

I'll be there in this. First time at Mallory for me, too!

Forgot to say what've car I'm in.

I'll be in my 2002

Gearbox is a bit poorly at the moment but it'll be fine... I hope.

Pop over and say hi if you like Syncro

Its a lovely simple track, 1.1 miles and only 5 corners......but relax too much and it will bite you!

There was a Holden Maloo last time I was there. Owner got it wrong coming out of Gerrards and trashed both sides on the armco.
I managed to visit the gravel trap at the end of the morning session,

and missed my braking point going into Gerrards at the end of the afternoon and started lawn mowing at 110mph. Only managed to stop by spinning it.

Great track, deceptively good fun.

I was there on the day the Maloo hit the Armco, I think he had only had it a week it wasn't written off cos it buckled the roof !!

I hope I won't be collecting any scenery.

That's if I make it there at all.
I changed my pads the other day and have been using my car for work to bed them in.

Came home tonight and the car was pulling to the left.
Took the off wheel off to investigate and there was oil everywhere...
Turns out that my oil cooler has popped (it's behind the grill on the drivers side)
I've removed the oil cooler and looped the lines back on themselves. Will have to keep an eye on temps.

Just need to replace the pads if I can get hold of some tomorrow as I don't think they're saveable

Did you hit the wall at the hairpin or was that a narrow escape ?

Check your oil level carefully! Gerrads killed my E30 325i, it's a very long right hander, the track people said it's common to have oil starvation problems there, as I found out at my expense!

Two speed; it was just a close call. A very close call. I've been trying to see if anyone got a photo or video.
My mate binned his brothers saxo in the esses too. Looking to see if anyone caught that on film.

I could only manage 1 hot lap at a time before my car over heated so i sat the afternoon session out.

Probably only managed 6 laps in total so never really got to drive the track properly. Didn't even get chance bed the brakes in before hand.

Cheers for the heads up dub master. Have to keep an eye on my oil as it like to exit via the exhaust on the overrun!
