If you wanted to buy a car, mostly used for track days, where would you go? All seem to be on ebay and some on PH and a few other niche sites. Also, how easy, if you have done this, have you found it to sell a TD car? Should I buy one in the winter when people do less TDs or doesn't it make much difference? Is there anything above the typical stuff you'd look for on a normal car to look out for?

The one I share came from Ebay, and had a greater sum spent on modifications than we paid for the entire thing. There's plenty of choice, but (from experience) there's an awful lot of cr*p on offer that will never see its next MOT. If you've got access to a trailer (or a dodgy MOT guy), this is less of a problem - but some of the supposed 'road legal' stuff that is on offer boggles the mind.

If you're in a position to tow a car about then why not look at an actual race car as opposed to a general road legal track car?

eBay and PH as you've said but also owners club forums. If they are popular TD cars then you'll often find good examples on the marque specific forums. There's a decent FB group called "Track Time" which has a for sale area too.

The other way would be if you find something specific you like then you can always approach the owner and see if they are thinking of selling, even if they're not "for sale". This time of year as the TD season winds down you never know, it's worth a quick PM.

Bingo!

OP, what's your shortlist?
