Rally Tarmac tyres for track days
Discussion
Just canvassing opinions on whether these would be a good option?
The ones with the cut crisis/cross tread pattern, so as to be road legal, not racing slicks with no tread.
I saw some in use on a sprint day, on an Evo and a TR8, both of which were quick cars, but only started thinking about it on my way home.

I used to use Silverstone S585 tarmac rally tyres on a 1700kg e34 M5. Quite a deep 'cut' in them for damp conditions too - did produce a fair bit of noise though. I wouldn't have even considered them but a Scooby rally driver was selling up and had 17 part-worn ones for sale, so I took the lot for less than £100 (fuel for the 3 trips to pick them up probably cost more).
The tyres stood up to a lot of abuse, and would happily use them again if I had still had the space to carry a spare set of wheels (no space in a Z4). The only downside was the added strain they put on the driver/suspension/brakes
Haven't used them for about 10 years though, so I'm sure there's plenty of equivalents out there now - e.g. DMACK DMT1, Maxsport RB5, Silverstone S585/S575/FTZRR, etc.
