Hi Guys,
toying with booking a track day at Rockingham on the iscc in November. mostly as i really want a go on the wet grip circle aswell. However the banked turn one is making me think, how much of a challenge is it? I've a little bit of track experience (Silverstone National, and Bedford SEN) however it'll be my first full day on track in an MX5.

Turn one isn't bad in the dry and there are surprisingly few offs even in the wet, you're much more likely to fire it off on the infield TBH.

Standard advice; get instruction and keep your sensible head on as you build up speed and you should be fine, Rockingham is a great track to drive.

Done a few trackdays there and then raced there in the rain last weekend. A couple had spins in the race on turn 1 but nothing damaged.

Just start with a slight lift (adjust depending how fast your going at entry to turn 1) just before turning in and then throttle through. Aviod lifting mid corner if you can help it. Then build up the speed, your cars power, tyres, suspension etc. will dictate how fast so we cant help you there.

turn one isnt so bad... our bmw 328 on shoddy tyres requires a bit of a lift, on decent trackday tyres its easy flat (in the dry at least). but its a cool corner, keep the car stable through it and you should be fine.

the more interesting corner is the turn two hairpin coming down off the banking, always lock a wheel there as you transition from banked to flat. But rockingham is a surprisingly good track, in field is great, the pifpaf chicane is great fun hopping the kerbs and you can really carry a lot of speed through gracelands. and the tarzan hairpin is easy tail out action if you're so inclined biggrin

Echo the above comments, when you join the banked section from the chicane at brook your instinct initially is to keep left, but take it wide up to the top of the wall. Its a very grippy track, very hard on tyes.
