Hi,

I intend doing some trackdays this year. However, I need to work out how noisy my V8S is. I have failed to find anywhere near me with a noise meter, and the nearest track day where I might have the car tested is about 70 miles away. I don't really want to travel that far just for a 5 minute test.

So I'm thinking I could buy a sound meter but I don't know what might be suitable. As it is a V8, the sound is quite low frequency and sound meters seem to have various ranges that they can handle.

Can anyone recommend a meter under £60?

Maplin do one but it could be completely unsuitable for all I know:

Have a look at the other thread above - it will give you some ideas
Personally I wouldn't buy a cheap sound meter as I don't imagine that it would be that accurate, depending where you live there should be a race track somewhere near who could test it for you or else a scrutineer.

Here's the one I've got which works perfectly and has been used at several tracks & TVR events :-
