Thinking about booking Bedford later this month.

I have not been for a few years do they still have those stupid humps at the entrance?

My car is not low but did foul them last time I went.

go slowly, and on the diagonal. so slow as to not make the suspension move at all. even if you crawl over them at 0.5 mph they will have probably still seen someone going slower.

They really are small - your car must be very low?

One in particular by the security hut is terrible! - Very nasty scrape on the exhaust as my Chimaera went over! I can't believe with the number of cars that go in that they haven't sorted this out!

Agreed, I've heard many a track car scrap over that. Given we all slow down for the security hut anyway its seems stupid to keep them there, I guess it also comes down to who pays...

I don't find the ones entering the site too bad, but almost every time I go to bedford my bloody satnav directs me through a small village where you turn off and there are about 4 enormous speed tables. Which i've managed to scrape my splitter on going about 2mph, this doesn't seem to be an uncommon route because I seem to have someone else behind me that I've then seen at the same trackday.

I should really figure out a different route, but it seems if I go up the M1 that's possibly the only way?

That's probably Milton Ernest - keep going straight on and turn right at the roundabout just outside the village, avoids all the speed humps which are designed to stop people going that way...

Also for those going to Bedford, the western bypass opened a few months ago which means you can skirt around from the M1 without needing to go through the center of Bedford. From the M1 follow the A421, then turn off for the A428 just before Bedford and then follow the signs for the A6. Brings you out on the A6 dual carriageway just beyond Sainsburys.

This is a man that knows. It is sign posted off of the roundabout too, so it's impossible to get lost.

Personally I turn right in Milton Ernest to avoid the cameras and those silly speed tables aren't a problem on the bike.

Really? My track car is ludicrously low, yet it still went over (on the diagonal) without any major issues. This would seem like the most ridiculous reason I've ever heard for not going on a track day...

If the car is that low, how is it going to run over the curbs on track ? Isn't too low ie not optimised because of too little travel ?

I agree that the humps aren't that bad, but they do seem out-of-place and unnecessary.

I'll also take the opportunity to remind Bedford users about the average speed cameras through Milton Ernest.

Never had a problem with my RX-7. I just go slowly and diagonally. My front splitter will catch coming off every speed bump and speed table thing if I don't drop to a walking pace. I also can't get on my driveway without taking a special angle and route in.

Those bumps seemed to give my sister's MX-5 on cheap undamped coilovers a bit of a boing though.

You probably won't have to worry about the speed bumps for too long if they get planning permission for all the houses they are planning to build on the airfield site !
