People often talk about their "ideal" lap if they put together their best time from each sector of a circuit so I decided it might be fun to put together my worst. Quite funny to see what it looks like when you make a mistake on nearly every corner, in fact the only one I never got badly wrong was Pif Paf but that's probably because the entry speed is restricted by the previous corner. Anyway, here it is, with the lock up towards the end the definite highlight (shame I never had a spin to put in there):

This was the car that had sat for ages, you didn't know which way the wheels were pointing and had unusual wear patterns on your tyres?

Bingolaugh You must be the tyre guy I spoke to?

Definitely needs geometry work, if only to get it the same on both sides, but it's just one of a long list of jobs that need doing on it. To be fair, it's still fun to drive as it is which is the important thing but I've no doubt it could be a lot quicker with the right set up.

I have to admit to my best laps look the same as your worst! I bet you were having fun though smile

Got to say i find it more fun than trying to just go for lap times, I know when the car slides I'm losing time but I can't help it!

Enjoyed watching your vid... Here's something to make you feel better... Shockingly my best time was only 0.4 secs quicker than this :

Nice vidcool

Some slides don't really seem to slow you down that much, probably the worst being big delays getting on the throttle coming out of tight corners. Think a lot depends on the set up of the car too with softer or less grippy set ups maybe even benefiting from a looser style of driving. Certainly when I've used bog standard road cars on trackdays, both FWD and RWD, it's seemed quicker to barrel into corners and let the car rotate a bit on lift off or on the brakes to avoid understeer but without a stopwatch to prove it maybe that's a misconception.

I know exactly what you mean. A little bit of 'rotation' not such a bad thing on turn in... It's just the armfuls of opposite on exit that slow you down lol!

We should have a ph thread of worst laps... Much more fun watching than the endless clean ones that get posted up smile
