New Civic Type R FK2 track day questions
Discussion
I'm considering purchasing a new or nearly new Civic Type R and would plan to use it on track for about 6 track days a year. If any of you have tracked the new type r could you share your experiences with me? I've been wondering about the following areas:
1. How is it on consumables - tyres, pads and discs? Have read some stuff in the press about it eating through discs and pads pretty quickly? It comes with continental sport contact6 tyres as standard so would probably look to upgrade to some more sticky list 1b tyres like r888rs for track days.
2. As standard it comes supplied with 0w 20 oil. Is this really ok for track use and the higher temps that will be generated?
3. Towing hooks look to be placed a little awkwardly under the car as per here - http://hondakarma.com/guides/honda-civic-type-r-em...
Have TDOs had any issues with this as they normally request towing hooks are clearly visible? Also not sure how practical having the hooks so far under the font and back bumpers would be as I can envisage the tow rope doing some damage to the front and back bumpers.
4. How fun is it on track?
Thanks in advance.

I did a web search about a month ago and the only stuff I could turn up was on their owners forum here:

Did spot one thing in particular, this thread wrt brake temperatures, a company (HCTR) has already produced a brake cooling deflector/s mod for them which looks promising:

Thanks for the links, very interesting! I think I'll join and post up my questions there as well. http://civictype-r.co.uk/forum/viewforum.php?f=177...

Good to know that some brake cooling mods are already available.
