Hi Guys,

I am embarking on my first ever Euro trip setting off after work Friday 23rd September from Middlesbrough and staying over in Folkestone for a morning Eurotunnel crossing at 8am. I am going to be taking it steady as I then head to the Nurburgring for the Saturday afternoon/ evening. I aim to either do my first Ever lap Saturday evening or if not wait for Sunday morning to do a few tourist laps. Following this experience I am heading onto Spa for the Monday trackday with Renault Sport.

Any recommendations for accommodation Saturday night at the Ring? I am looking for some extra comforts given my girlfriend is passenger, so she needs to be kept happy! Foxhole was advised and looks great if I was going solo/ with friends..

I noticed there was talk of a steak house on another thread for evening meal, any other recommendations Saturday evening at the Ring and also Sunday evening at Spa?

thanks,
Hugh

For NICE hotels, you are limited (pretty much) to the Dorint, which overlooks the GP start/finish straight or the Lindner Congress/Motorsport hotel, both are within walking distance/short taxi (weather dependant) of the village & the MUST do eating venue is the Pistenklaus, which is run by Sabine Schmidt's family & you either need to arrive early or book.

Blau Ecke in Adenauer is our go to when taking the wags. The Lindner is obviously a more traditional big hotel but the BE has a nicer more local feel.

My earlier reply may have been a bit one sided, as above, there are loads of nice smaller places, I took what you said to mean you wanted a traditional plush modern boutique type hotel & the ones I mentioned are the closest to that in the immediate area.

If it isn't going off-topic too much, I'd love to know how much to budget for a decent weekend at the Ring, less fuel. Did you opt for insurance?

That is a hell of a question with 1,000,000.00 variables.

Where are you,
How many people,
Ferry,
Chunnel,
How many mpg,
What standard of hotel/campsite/sleeping bag in car,
How many laps,
Insurance or not,
TF/TD,
That is just the start!

Anywhere from £800 to £5,000

I think about £1,000 with 25 Nordscheife laps and travelling down on Friday and back on Monday for myself and a female in a decent hotel/guest house. Snack for lunch and Pistenklaus in the evenings. I shall have to dig out my old summary sheet of expenditure. It msy have included petrol and crossing by ferry.

Perhaps it was more.

sadly its sold out on the dates I'm travelling!

I'm going to purely take in the weekend atmosphere and do a few laps.

I'll have a look into pre-booking the restaurant for Saturday night! Any advice on Sunday evening at Spa? Further advice on nice guest house/ hotel? A local feel would be preferred over a generic hotel.

thanks

For Spa evening then Stavalot is nice and close. It's a traditional town with some nice hotels. Or Spa town itself. A bit more expensive, but plenty to choose from.

God we've just got back from the 'Ring/ Spa and spent a hell of a lot more than that.
25 laps is 550 euros alone.
I reckon I spent a good £1500 for a Friday/Monday including everything.
Fuel £400
Hotels £350
Laps £200
Spa track time £300
Food £200
Euro Tunnel £150
Random Bits £100

if you want to treat you girl well then i recommend the Schloss Hotel in Daun. Sheared the honeymoon suite there once...............with a geezeryikes
joking aside it really is a nice hotel and not overly expensive. the village itself is nice enough for a stroll around too. Nice drive to the Ring from there

When we go we stay in Hotel an der Nordschliefe for the 'Ring and Hotel St. Gereon in Malmedy (about7 km's from the track) for Spa, both are B&B's though.

Malmedy is a lovely quiet Belgium town, with some really nice restaurants that sit in the town square, a great way to spend a summers evening after a trackday.

Hotel an der Nordshliefe is about a 10 min walk from Adenau which has Pinnocio's, a great pizzeria.

If you watch luxury then La Source at Spa, but not a lot else to do as it is right next to the track and as someone else pointed out the Lindner for the 'Ring.

Check out www.racetracker.de - you might see pictures of you on track at the ring. You can buy HD copies usually later in the evening.

Thanks I overlooked that! I'll have to wait till Sunday then!

I'm taking baggage with me that I won't want in the car whilst driving around, is there anywhere people advise for storage whilst on circuit?
