Hi Guys,

In a situation where i want to do a track day but current friends either aren't into it or don't have a car worth/capable of tracking.

Do most of you go solo - is it quite social? or is there a group people can join with regular meet ups?

I am surrey based so abingdon and goodwood are my two of choice.

Thanks.

I work offshore, so in my 2 weeks off, I only ever do days in the week when it is quieter & everyone else is at work, so mine are almost always solo.

You will always meet up with like-minded individuals/groups to get chatting to wherever you go in my experience.

I've been solo to quite a number of trackdays. Quite easy to get chatting to people usually!

"Track time" is a decent little Facebook group for track dayers. Have a look there.

But yeah going solo isn't so bad, I started doing them alone and got chatting to people at the circuit. I made a friend last year and we've done about 9 track days together since.

I normally go on my own as most of my friends aren't into cars or can't afford to do track days. Most people tend to be friendly and want to chat 'cars'.

I live near Goodwood...

Been solo to a few days now, but I always offer my passenger seat out to friends/family. On a few occasions they've even booked the day off work to do it.

It's not lonely if you go it alone, always people to chat to on a trackday but I do prefer sharing the day with a friend/relative even if they're not driving.

A bunch of us are going to Brands on the 18th, with a bunch of TVR's, you could always join us.

I have a local group I tend to go with, we are in Marlow so not far from you. We tend to do Brands, Goodwood, Snetterton, Cadwell, Spa and Oulton Park.

I have done a couple on my own and never been alone for long, always taking others out for pax laps or jumping in as a pax myself, very sociable bunch I tend to find.

If you are taking the TT on your profile, park it amongst the MR2s and MX5s and get chatting. They will offer you rides and they will want to come out with you. As you won't actually want to be driving more than 33-50% of the time there will be plenty of time for socialising and passengering.
You will be surprised how quick some of them are when well driven. It's all about car ruin speed through corners.
