Reasonable Price Helmet - Which and where from?
Discussion
I have finally got round to getting a few trackdays sorted out and would like to get myself a lid for the purpose.
Can anyone suggest any reasonably priced helmets that fit the regulations for standard trackdays?
Also, could anyone give a few ideas where I can buy them at a reasonable price?
Hope to see you on track soon

Check out www.demon-tweeks.co.uk they have a good selection and at this time of year will probably have some of last years stock at a big discount.
I'm looking for a new helmet at the moment and went to Grand prix Racewear in Chiswick this weekend to try a few on.
I would recommend you try as many on a possible as the difference in fit and comfort was huge. I could've been extremely disappointed if I'd bought straight from a catalogue.
As ever, you really do get what you pay for though.

Thanks for that advice, I am definitely going to look at a lot of makes and models before I buy, going to head round a few local motorcycle places and see what is on offer.
I am looking to spend about £50-70 on the lid and add a balaclava to go under it for about £15-20, does this sound about right for the budgetting?
Thanks

the gold sticker is Auto Cycle Union highest standard, suitable for bike racing (but stuck to pretty much all helmets sold in the UK)
silver is for off-road (ie dirt track) racing
check the strap or inside at the crown for the BS or EU standard, or the tags etc that come with it

Also how do you tell whether the helmet you pick is going to be acceptable. For example, the TVRCC require BS6658-85 type A or A/FR, or Snell SA95 or SA2000. I've been looking at an AGV helmet and it only has a square gold sticker on the back. What's the deal??
It all depends on the person who checks it. I have just bought one with a BS sticker on it. The chap in the motor bike shop said it was old stock as the newer ones dont bother with BS any more, they follow the EU regs. He said people scan the BS logo and make their own to put on the helmets.
