Trailer Hire or Switch Insurance ?

Bought a 350Z 3 years ago after some deliberation between that and an Elise. Then took it round Donington a couple of years ago which was fun but have had it parked up for the last 2 years as business wasn't so good and running 2 motors became too expensive
Would like to do a couple more track days this year with my son and I sharing the laps....would be more practical on an open pit lane day as I remember? 2 drive for the price of one? I used to do bike days 10 years ago when you went into one of 3 groups
I also managed to pick up 12 points in 12 months (mostly in the truck and 8mph over the limit) but my premium has leapt from £180ish to £520. The motor is a low mileage 55 plate which I would like to keep standard as it's nice to drive on holiday to the north of Scotland (heated electric seats and SUPERB Bose sounds) and I only need to wait another year till 6pts are off
Question is...where could I rent a trailer to take the Z to a track or would it be prudent to switch insurance from my Landcruiser to the Z for a month (and SORN it) and tax the Z, and vice-versa?
The pros would be saving trailer rental but the Z would also need MOTing and driving to and from a circuit....I'd be happy to drive round in the Z for the rest of the summer but having the Landcruiser and a trailer and a few tools at the track day has it's advantages....
