Report from a friend who lives in Adenau

Sorry chaps/chapesses & Gary, but I don't think it's going to happen. The problem is that they still have at least 4 days of work left to do with the resurfacing and for that they need a ground temperature of +8°c. It's been about -10°c for the last few weeks and a covering of about 15-20cm of snow on the track. It's -5°c at the moment and snowing lightly, I think it'll be a miracle if it's open for the easter weekend. I'll keep you updated as the weather over here does have a habit of suprising us.

Gary

Looks like my planned Easter trip to the Ring may turn into a long weekend of skiing at La Grave instead...

Presumably there's some "unfinished" track there and its this that means no driving until its fixed?

I saw a wonderful video of a chap taking a 996 C2 around the 'ring - in inches of snow. Sideways the whole time. Excellent.

And there is more snow this morning. Great fun coming to work on the bendy twisties. Doesn't help you though!
Sorry.

I drove through the area the other week and it was chucking the fluffy stuff down.

Yep, a lovely fresh dusting of the white stuff again this morning. Good news is that it is warming up a bit. Almost to freezing here, although it is usually a bit cooler at the 'ring.

Apparantly there is still snow but the rain should help clear it away. Hope the temperature stays above freezing.

Glenn, apparently the rma do the best trip there.

I think they are one of the only clubs who can exclusivley hire it out...(might be wrong on that)

Graham always recommends not taking your pride and joy...
Take a FWD car...was his recommendation.
Probably would take the teg

Glenn - I don't think there's an organised PH trip but a few of us go regularly and have promised to post details of when. I'll be going a few times but probably leaving from Barcelona most times.

I've stayed at the posh hotel overlooking the GP circuit and it's very nice but a lot of people like staying in the many B&Bs.

Cheers

I'm hoping to make it out for Easter as are a bunch of guys from the Lancer Register.

If the weather and the resurfacing go to plan, I'll be there in a Toyota Corolla T-Sport. (Needed something relatively benign to show some 'Ring virgins the line).

Last I read over on the Ringers forum, there were snow ploughs out, because the Ring management were trying to get the work done PDQ and get the place ready for VLN on 19th march.

These webcam pictures are the good news. The bad news is the images were taken Friday, and last night there was a further 10cm of snowfall.
Dazren, that is right - the 'Ring mgmt. are keen to get things ready for the 19th. The day before yesterday the lads were (perhaps desperately) laying fresh tarmac at Brunnchen, notwithstanding that the air temperature was 2.5 deg.

How long, at that temperature, will the new tarmac last? Lets hope they dont rush it too much, else it will be torn up by June!

I saw a few samll patches of our beloved tarmace yesterday, but the snow was really drifting last night and the temperature seemed to be dropping well below freezing.

The ploughing has helped so that when the sun does appear the melting should proceed at a decent pace, but judging from last night and thd leaden skies today that won't be happening too soon.
