shout Any advice on what or what not to look out for?
I've always found communication a big problem when teaching/being taught etc (mainly because of full face helmet I guess) so am thinking of purchasing, but don't know where to start really. Any advice welcome, but is it easy to transfer it over from one person to another?

Well, having tried many different systems over a many years, I find these the most suitable for your exact requirements!! Don't dismiss them because of price, because they are so easy to use, and change from one helmet to another in seconds!! They look a little bit fragile, but if treated with some respect, they last for a long time! Buy a couple, and see how you get on with them, you won't exactly lose a fortune!!

I use a StarCom1 system in my Caterham. Works well, not the cheapest. Can get headset that can transfer from helmet to helmet and a permanent Peltor style one for your own.

I am going to try the £6 cheapie Chinese ones in the link above though, just as a backup, and out of curiosity.

I tried a cheap ebay one years ago and had a lot of electrical interference. I keep looking at the newer ones like the one linked to and I`m very tempted to give one a try myself. !

After ginettajoe`s post, I`ll order one smile

When you receive them, in the packet there will be two sponge socks that go over the microphone, .... make sure that once you have pushed them over the mike, you secure it with very small tie wraps!! When you use the intercom, push the ear piece into your ear, and just hold the sponge sock between your lips as you lower your helmet, and then it all stays in place!! I use mine with open or full face helmets, and find them excellent, with good battery life (remember to turn it off when not in use) and separate volume controls!! There were some slightly bigger ones doing the rounds, and the interference on those was bad, on these, I don't have any interference! I have tried all of them, Starcom, Peltor etc, and all round, these are excellent, mainly because you can change person to person, helmet to helmet, so quickly!! Note, when you order them, they are coming from Hong Kong, and it is generally three weeks or so before they arrive!! If you trawl Ebay, you will find the same ones for sale at upwards of £20!! HTH

Looks like the PH track warriors have cleaned them out wink

I wonder if these would work with them with a bit of rewiring....

There are a few other vendors. Look in the bottom right corner for the 'more like these' button. I got some for £6.25.

...... not too sure! I'm not into electronics at all, but I'm sure the fact that there is no microphone included in that headset, I'm not sure how you could do it! I did try the headsets from the previous ones I had tried, which were slightly more substantial, and had a 3.5mm jack plug fitted, but they didn't work!! As long as you look after these cheap ones, they do work really well!!

Just search on Ebay, as pdelamare has, and you will find the same ones at fractionally more!!

Let us know how you find the intercom, once you have used it?

When you say buy a couple, what do you mean?

Do I need to buy one set per person or will (as it appears from the pictures on Ebay) one set will allow two people to communicate?

I have the following short listed. Indenting to install in full closed lid, requiring some chasing on the inside of the helmet foam padding to install permanently under the cover.

Option 1 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Avantree-Motorcycle-Interp...

Option 2 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ME8RJ00?psc=1

Both seems to get reasonable reviews.

We use 2 way radios and the bike intercom headsets, the ptt button is on the gearstick. It allows us to abuse each other car to car while we are on track

Mine arrived today. Very clear, not sure if they are loud enough on full volume though ?. I`ll find out at Donington in March

Ran these at Donington on Saturday.

Whilst they are clear and just loud enough when fully in your ear, both me and my passenger found they could easily move and then it was difficult to hear what the other person was saying. The microphone had to be pretty close to your mouth but they didn`t pice up much external noise which was good.

They don`t sit snugly in the ear and as the volume is only just enough, as soon as they move they aren`t really good enough.

Has anyone tried different earpiece / microphones with them ? I don`t know if they are `standard` wiring or not.
