DanBoy's First Track Day.
Discussion
Well, I suppose it's a driving experience really.
I was given on of those "Red Letter Days" type things by my folks for my 21st. The actual day involves a few laps of Silverstone in an Elise and then a 355.
Thing is, I'm going to have to book some time off work... This is probably an odd question, but what's the best time of year for a one-off track day?

Anytime of year when the chances of it pissing down are lower. This usually means summer.
A wet track can be fun - but not for your first go.
A track with ice on it is pointless and they won't run that day...mind you Jonny (Bookatrack) told me once that they ran a day at Elvington with snow on the track (airfield really) and everyone had a superb time at about 25mph!
Mind you - if you take a punt on a winter date you may find that they are discounting "extras" like additional laps or a go in a different car...
Enjoy.
