The Missus has decided to buy me a Rally Day for Christmas (must be the new life insurance I took out recently) so I thought I'd throw it up to the PH massive for some recommendations.

Any thoughts/experiences?

Me and a few 'easytrack' mates did this day www.rallydrive.co.uk/ - absolute hoot... (do the whole day not just half)

Recommeded.

...and here's me learning the basics (vid stopped JUST before wrecking the course)

Thanks Steve I will look into that in more detail. However, on first glace it appears to be based down South.

Does anyone have experience of any days in Wales or further North?

Mods, would this be better placed in GG(motoring)?

When I wanted to try this, I looked into this long and hard.In the end I did the Silverstone Rally School, Clubmans course.
It cost about £240 for the whole day and there were about 6 others attending. We'd all elected(when booking)for the 2wd Mk II Escorts as opposed to the 4wd Impretzas.
You will learn and do handbrake, powerslide and pendulum turns. Lunch is at a nearby motorsport themed pub (recommended).
Guests can watch although, you would need to be keen and it was wet, dirty and cold.
In all, a great day out and I learnt stuff I didn't really know how to do.I also really appreciated the simple wonder that is a 2000cc Escort.
I recommended it to a mate, who didn't like it, because he didn't like being bollocked by the instructor, when he spun for the 3rd time.
I guess it depends if you want an ' experience' which he did, or to be taught to control the car ' on stage' as I did.
My missus bought me a gift voucher for Xmas and there was a long booking ahead period, when I finally set a date.

I'd second crbox's recommendation. I've done the same day. Very good.

Bit late now I know, I've done Silverstone, but Phil Price in Powys is by far a better day IMHO. I've run an event down there for the bm3w.co.uk boys and they all thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm doing one at Oulton Park this weekend. Should be good fun, but I have this horrible feeling that it'll be a lot more serious than I'm expecting and I'll get shouted at by the instructor.

I didn't know there was on at Oulton until today. Whilst out for a hoon after a meeting, I had a drive onto Oulton to see if anything was going on and bugger me what should I see but " Rally Stage" signs and someone taking a Cosworth for a shake down.

Bollocks, I'm driving 100 miles to do mine and this is round the bloody corner! Still I get a long weekend away which keeps the Missus happy.
