Improve your skills at PH's Track Academy
Advanced on- and off-track tuition from expert instructors
Preparations for next year's PH Track Academy, organised by PH in association with Track-sense, are well underway. Join us for a day of fun and learning.
Where: Mallory Park
When: Saturday 26 February 2005
Course introduction and objectives
This is an opportunity for you to meet your instructors and receive any additional course material not already sent out to you. We will describe and explain the course structure and cover a few housekeeping issues.
European Le Mans series champion Robin Liddell will be instructing on this course, along with two other highly experienced race drivers.
On track
Racing circuits are made up of corners and straights which seems simple enough. We will look at the basics of driving on a circuit and the theory behind correct corner technique and the racing line.
Vision/preparation
Good vision is probably the single most important part of your driving and undoubtedly the hardest part to master. We will look at the importance of using your vision correctly on track and how to use it to help judge braking points and entry speed effectively.
Weight Transfer
Ever driven a "perfect" car? It's unlikely. One of the most important areas of track driving, we analyse how your driving style can affect the handling of the car and give you something to think about during your subsequent driving sessions.
Course details
Each participant will get their own A5 ring binder with course material, notes, a copy of the presentations and a copy of the circuit guide. It will be sent out in advance so that those unfamiliar with the circuit can examine each corner in detail beforehand.
The teaching environment will be interactive with a mix of presentations shown on plasma display and the obligatory flipchart. People learn better if they participate in the process.
Each classroom session will be 20 minutes long, 20 minutes being the optimum point at which the brain starts to subjectively dismiss information. On-track tuition sessions will also be 20 minutes long plus a debrief. Students can use the rest of the available track time to practice on their own what they have learnt.
Helmets will be available for hire and, if you want to hire a car to do the course, then we can also arrange that. There may also be opportunities to share a car. Car hire however is likely to double the course cost depending upon what you want to do it in.
The cost is just £285.

2 definates and 4 provisional bookings so far, all Pistonheaders so it would be nice to make it a mini Pinstonheads meet and ill it before the rest of the places go at the Autosport show.

The Mallory date is for road silenced cars only i.e. nothing ridiculous.
We are in the process of sorting another course subject to interest on the day after the Mallory day on the Silvserstone National Circuit which would be a 'noisy' day. This would however be slightly more expensive.

Please call me if you haven't had this, we had a bit of a delay on the guides but they went out first class on Monday.
Full course material is given out on the day.
The instruction on Saturday will be done personally by Robin Liddell and Simon Mason.
