Hello all -

I know that the Nurburgring is very often used by car companies for testing purposes and presumably they pay for the privilege.

Has anyone any idea of how much - if indeed it's possible - it would be to hire the ring for a day? Idle chat had got me and a friend talking about a group of us doing just that.

I guess it would mean paying the necessary to have it staffed appropriately and would be a fair whack but I'd be interested to know.

All the best

David.

It's really difficult to hire the Ring - they are fussy about who hires it - they've had some bad experiences with UK companies.
There are limited days available each year.
Last I heard it was in fact not very expensive - 10K maybe (my memory is not very good) - but like everything the price has probably increased with the demand for it.

The hire of the 'Ring' track only is not as expensive as you think it may be (I forget the exact figures).
However that is for the track only. Who's going to supply the marshalls, the medics, the recovery truck etc.. all of which the Ring management will demand you have.

Also why would the Ring hire the track out for private use when they have manufacturers queing up for track time. Ford for example have just spend 30 Million on launching the new Focus at the Ring and they are struggling to get a week of circuit time next year.

To my knowledge only RMA and Easytrack from the UK have managed to get track time in the last 2 years at the Ring and that was restricted to 2 week days in November.

It was pretty close to €10k last time I talked to someone who organised a test day for an industrial consortium on the Nordschleife. This, however, was with the lowest service level Nürburgring GmbH provides.

I was offered both circuits for £5k each. The only problem is they wont now book it out to a UK company. You need to book it through their trackday people, and see if they are willing to give up a day.

Plus you need to prove so many things, including a good record of running days....It was a nightmare, a great way of making some money, but a major headache!
