What a blast!

Fordwater absolutely flat out...

I'm still stoked.

Also nice: "You have totally changed my opinion of Boxsters. I was trying as hard as I could and I couldn't reel you in."

And so many smashing people to chat to...

Porsche Owners: If you haven't joined the club and gone on its track days you just don't know what you're missing.

Brill.

Yep. Madgewick - its better to brake in a straight line earlier and be on balanced throttle round the final curve to the turn point than to aim at the turn point and brake. This means you can drive the car all the way around the double apex of Madgewick.

Second: Build up to keeping your foot in all the way from the exit of Madgewick through the turn in, apex and exit of Fordwater.

No-name and St Mary's I found to be git to do anything with but No-name being fourth and St Mary's being third you need to make sure you do enough braking before no-name to make St Mary's turn-in straightforward.

Oh...and its really tempting to turn-in far too late for the Chicane. It seems what to do is aim to brake in a straight line ending up inches from the tyres on your right and then turn the car immediately to the left whilst getting on the gas - not too much as you don't really need to use the kerb...

More expert opinions than mine are available - but this is what I learned on top of the usual Circuit Guide recommendations...

Sorry I missed this at the time, Melv. Yeah. Goodwood appears to be famous for limited track time. I think I got about an hour and a half/hour and fifteen actually driving.

But it was very social all day as the weather was so good so nice anyway...

Guys

I went that day as well, first time at Goodwood and really enjoyed learning the track & meeting up with others. Some great corners and my Porsche 968 (white one) seemed to gobble them all up.

What I did not like was that it was run in short sessions and only 5 cars at a time -- stayed all day, drove all my sessions and still only did 90 miles.

So despite the good company this was very poor value at £2/mile for me.

Been looking at Donington later in Nov & Dec, open pit lane and only £95 for the day -- that should get it down to about 50p/mile. Much better value.

see you there then!!

I think you'll find it is in sessions, and it is open to anyone so you may not get the good manners of PCGB members. Still worth doing though.
