Bruntingthorpe Trackday with ID-Clud

Hi all
Theres been a couple of threads recently about track days and performance driving days, is it worth, do you learnt much, would you do it again and so on and since I’ve just got back from a very long and tiring day at Bruntingthorpe (Leicester) I thought I’d share my recent track day experience with you.
I used ID-Clud www.id-clud.com and booked their 1-1 tuition event which is an all day event (0930-1500) for £250, you get one on one tuition from instructors who spend most of their time instructing in Bedford for Jon Palmer racing – believe me when I say these guy really do know their stuff. Bruntingthorpe is a very large ex-US airfield with a 2.4mile straight – enough to top most cars out . There were only 4 cars there all day 3 Chimaera’s, myself, Chris and Bruno and Shaun in his Elise – hope you all got home safely.
This day isn’t just about seeing how fast you can go round the specially prepared track but how to control your car which is done through a number of driving disciplines; including, slalom, figure of 8, braking control etc there was also time to have some real fun doing J-turns, high speed runs and dounuts – I know what you’re thinking “sounds very getaway driver’ish” but I still have a smile on my face 4 days after the event
The instructors were first class and I’d like to say a big thanks to Martin, Lee and Simon who were all to willing to change and adapted the day as we wanted – including taking the other halves round a couple of flying laps.
On the down side I did get though a set of tyres as Bruntingthopre is not the kindest of tracks on tyres, lucky I took spares , I’d also recommend taking refreshments as no where’s open on a Sunday.
Would a recommended it – absolutely, I’ve never been to a track day with only 4 cars on it and having an instructor “assigned” to you for 5 hrs is extremely good value for money.

100% agree with everything that Paul said. I was on that day too and being my first track day didn't quite know what to expect. What a superb time I had - the grin is still there, and I can't wait to get out on the track again! The car took minimal punishment, fluids did not need topping up at all, with only the tyres getting a beating - rears! Even so, plenty of tread left and a spare set of track day wheels is now on the shopping list (along with exhaust mufflers too)!
I really did learn a lot, having had the car for over a year now I was confident in chucking it around but these guys are so fantastic they've taken my ability to another level! Just basic things that you can't practice on the road like hanging the back end out in a controlled way , and going for it ten tenths round the circuit right on the limit all the time. It was immensily satisfying and very addictive. I can't wait to do it again as ID-Club have taught me alot, although I still have plenty to learn I cannot think of a better way to learn

I really did learn a lot, having had the car for over a year now I was confident in chucking it around but these guys are so fantastic they've taken my ability to another level! Just basic things that you can't practice on the road like hanging the back end out in a controlled way , and going for it ten tenths round the circuit right on the limit all the time. It was immensily satisfying and very addictive. I can't wait to do it again as ID-Club have taught me alot, although I still have plenty to learn I cannot think of a better way to learn
